With many large publishing companies, you have to submit your manuscript and wait for a response. This can be very time-consuming and it can also be very difficult finding the appropriate publisher. You can face the probability of it not being accepted; this is not to say the manuscript is not worthy of publication, it simply means you don’t have the backing to get your book noticed.
Print on demand (POD) is simply a method of book production used as an alternative to, and increasingly in conjunction with the more traditional offset printing methods. Print on demand books are stored electronically and individually printed as they are ordered. Because print on demand books can be produced quickly and inexpensively, with little discernible difference in appearance from that of the offset printed book, its use has gained wide acceptance among publishers and self-published authors.
Aventine Press, the author friendly self-publishing company is a relatively small publishing company but because we partner with Lightning Source Inc., a subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc., we can offer our authors delivery channels to more than 90% of all retail bookstore outlets in the USA.
Our print on demand titles are listed on Ingram databases and are ordered by booksellers through the same methods they usually use – electronic ordering, telephone, fax, and mail.
